Hi! Welcome to Historical Universes and thanks for checking us out. Now that you've read about our general board basics on the sidebar and probably gone to the welcome forum at the top of the board and read the rules, this is where you find out how to start in on the game or games with us and get a step by step guide for how to proceed through the process. Each game has its own application and acceptance area and you must be accepted to a game before posting there (or have permission for game travel with games set in the same time period).

1.) You may only work on one application at a time (post one at a time to be accepted before posting another one), so make sure that you check out all our different game plots! They are linked in a dropdown menu in the directory of the sidebar. Templates are found in the application board of each game and when they are finished (or tagged WIP) they are posted in that same board!

2.) Once you've decided what game you're interested in joining, check out the information (start here) section of that game for any game-specific rules and the game-specific plot.

3.) Next, check out the canon and wanted ads for that game. Even if you have an original in mind, reading these will give you a good idea of the sort of characters we're looking for! Remember, your character MUST be historically plausible in history and behaviour. No exceptions! For example, overly powerful women who are supremely independent and superbly educated are generally not realistic for older time-periods. There were constraints on women. Keep these historical things in mind when designing your character.

4.) Check out the face claim and make sure the face (playby) you want is available. Faces cannot be claimed UNTIL AFTER an application is accepted.

5.) Register with character first name and last name with normal capitalization and a space between. Fill out your application and post it in the appropriate game forum.

6.) Wait patiently. We generally frown on overt or covert cbox posts about your app! We may ask you to make minor edits and this is usually not a big deal. Sometimes we may make improvement suggestions that will help you to get into the game and get more threads. It's not an attack, we just want you to be successful and stay here! If we ask for edits, please reply to your thread that you have edited and this will speed up the process.

7.) Take a pro-active approach to getting threads and plots. People who sit around waiting for things to come to them rarely get going. Post in plot boards, chat in the cbox, talk on AIM or elsewhere, and send PMs. Don't just put your plot board up and sit. Make an open thread, help us help you to get integrated! We like things to be equitable here! Do you part for yourself! We are all super friendly and will also do our part to welcome you. Also, spread your thread requests out to more than just the staff. There are other RPers who are members who want to get going and have threads as much as you do! The staff doesn't want all the love!
